Hannah surprised me with an overnight getaway to the Freestone Inn on Highway 20 in Mazama to celebrate a recent promotion at work. We had a great time at the Freestone Inn and took advantage this morning of the inn’s proximity to one of the North Cascade Highway’s gems: Liberty Bell at Washington Pass.

While it was perfectly sunny in the Methow Valley, as we ascended into the heart of the North Cascades, the weather became much more moody, eventually giving way to flurries of snow. It was great for photos though and with my new (to me) 16mm f/1.4 in hand, I had a blast capturing the rough and tumble North Cascades peaks.
